Our Garden Sprouts!

It’s almost warm enough to plant the seedlings that have been incubating under grow lights in Barbara’s house in the Chester Eastside-St. Paul’s Community Garden. Don’t the forsythia in the vase give them an extra spring-like look? ##communitygarden #growlights #seedlings #forsythia #chestereastside

Food Pantry Training

Our volunteers who interact with food pantry clients recently attended an hour-long training session and lunch. The annual review is required by our food pantry contractor, Share Food Program, and topics included an overview of the Federal laws prohibiting discrimination, categories of individuals protected by anti-discrimination laws, public notices pantries must post, appropriate data to collect from clients, accessibility issues for disabled individuals and language translation services available for communicating with LEP (limited English proficiency) individuals.
Volunteer Carlene summed up the training’s main message – “We should treat clients like we’d want our own mothers to be treated.”
